DataHub provides access to data from the National Climate Database (CLIDB)
DataHub replaces access to the National Climate Database via 'CliFlo'. Replacement for CliFlo was necessary as the application is over 30 years old and no longer supportable.
This comes with the following changes.
- Users need to create a new account, more information here.
- Only archived data (about one month 'old') is available*, more current climate station data and real-time access can be requested here.
- The minimum download unit is all data from one parameter / one station. Users cannot select data for a specified time period.
- For some data, the number of downloads may be limited**, larger datasets can be requested here.
- Under new licencing, there are no fees for non-commercial use and fees apply for commercial use***. More information on licenses is here. Fees are detailed in the DataHub checkout facility (incl. credit card payment).
Information related to these changes can be found here.
Data requests can be submitted here.
Notes
* The Climate Database is New Zealand’s Climate Data Archive.
** The limits meet the needs of at least 95% of current CliFlo users.
*** Current government funding is about 40% of costs for climate station network and database management. Revenue from fees supports operations of the Climate Database.
